Toyota and Scion rack up safety awards
Each year the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) runs tests for the top safety picks, and this year Toyota earned more awards than any other automaker.
“Safety is a core value that dates back to the foundation of our company. IIHS’ awards further recognize our commitment to helping protect drivers and passengers,” Steve St. Angelo, executive vice president of Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America, Inc. said, in a released statement.
The IIHS Top Safety Pick awards recognize vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rollover and rear crashes based on ratings in IIHS tests, according to the IIHS.
This year, Toyota, Lexus and Scion took 15 honors, with nine Toyota models making the list.
The winners are, (and a drumroll, please): Toyota Avalon, the all-new Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Prius, Prius v, Sienna, Tundra Crew Cab, Venza and Yaris. The Scion tC, xB and xD were also recognized.
